Frequent questions
For people that have never used credit cards, they are often associated as "the thing you pay with to get rewards when you're rich". However, not all cards are reward cards. At the heart of credit cards is well... credit. The main benefit of a credit card is the amount available for you to borrow, the credit limit that will help you to spread out the cost of a purchase or give you that little extra until next payday.
We've designed the Pillar Card to be functional, a credit builder credit card with a high credit limit but still accessible to people that are starting out with their credit journey in the UK. And when we say credit builder, we mean it: not only will Pillar Card help you build your score with the three main credit reference agencies in the UK, but if you're an international we might also try to help you with your credit footprint back home if you so wish to.
Yes! You are exactly the person Pillar is designed for. We are the first credit card to assess you based on your global credit history, not just your history here in the UK.
It takes credit to build credit but accessing credit products in the UK when coming from abroad can feel like an impossible task. We’re on a mission to fix that.
The maximum credit limit of a card is the highest amount of money you can spend using the card. With the Pillar Card you can be eligible for up to £10,000 to spend on credit. Keep in mind that even when spreading the cost of your purchases you will have to eventually repay what you’ve spent on credit plus any additional interests that were added as a result of spreading your repayments in time.
Yes, absolutely. Pillar is here to help you build a credit score. As long as you’re eligible and can meet our affordability assessment, you can join Pillar and begin building your credit score.
Our product was developed to help people just like you with little-to-no credit history in the UK, so if you’re an international you are at the right place!
APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is a representation of the total cost of credit and can include the interest rate (or purchase rate) as well as any additional fees like a monthly subscription. It’s a really useful way of comparing the cost of credit as it provides a standard format for you to compare against different credit providers.
